Run… from Your Old Sinful Nature!

When we are born again, our spirit is born again, not our minds and body. Remember we are spirit beings that never die. The body dies and the spirit goes one of two places. A born again Christian has a new sinless spirit within that the old sinful nature hates. That nature hates that it resides right alongside the sinless spirit. The ultimate goal of the new spirit is to bring that old sinful nature into subjection and into alignment with what God says. However, the old sinful nature is not trying to hear all that nonsense.  Romans 8:5 tells us: “For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.”

You see brothers and sisters; our flesh (worldly way of thinking that is not in alignment with spiritual the spiritual realm) is our true enemy. It does not matter where we go, the flesh tags along trying to persuade us to go against the spirit within. Indeed the war inside hurts so bad to the point that many of us cry out in agony for relief from all the pulling and tugging that is going on. Galatians 5:17 states: “For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.” We have a choice people to either agree with the Holy Spirit within or disagree. The consequence we receive is typically based on the choice we made.

Truly, I believe that it is better to run, resist, hold back and do like 1Peter 2:11 (NLT)…Peter states: Dear friends, I warn you as “temporary residents and foreigners” to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your very souls. Ephesians 6:12 (KJV) reminds us: For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Our sinful nature is up to no good. Listen to what Paul says in Romans 7:18: “And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. I want to do what is right, but I can’t.”

Some of us think that we can take fire in your bosom and not get burned. Well, if you recently vowed to be celibate, be careful not to find yourself in the midst of a situation where your flesh will decide what it wants to do. You see, if we trust our flesh to be strong we fall prey to the trickery of the enemy. Many of us have not yet realized that our nature is to sin. We have SINNED much longer and we are a lot more prone to do what the flesh WANT US TO DO. Brothers and sisters, for this reason, God came and offered us the perfect solution.

Once we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, The Holy Ghost moves in and manifests His endless love for us. He guides us and enables us to do things better than we ever did before, He gives us massive self control, wisdom, discretion, insight and so much more! Nevertheless, we have to listen. When we give in to the prompts of the Holy Spirit, we are transformed in to new creations, fashioned just the way God wants us. That old sinful nature is bought into subjection and literally crucified.

We begin to do everything for the sake of Christ because we love him, not because we think it is just what we are suppose to do. We become the salt that adds flavor to all situations and the light that overcomes darkness. We soar like eagles and become fearless as lions. I do not know about you, but I believe “SALVATION” is the best gift anyone could ever receive…Only believe in Gods way and not my way and I receive power to become more than I thought I could ever be! However, most of all, I get to see my Maker…GOD, when I leave this wretched flesh. Wow! This is truly awesome!

Memorial Day and Instruments of War

America celebrates Memorial Day on Monday, May 28th. However, some Americans  do not understand the significance of Memorial Day. Memorial Day is about honoring the many brave military people who defended our country.   As an ex-soldier of the United States Army, I was not one of those who actually went to war. However, I stayed behind and did a great deal of guard duty for families left behind enemy lines in Germany.

Some Americans  go about their daily duty without ever thinking about the security of our country. We often run around trying to make ends meet or are partying hardy while men and women fight for our country. Personally, I do not think there is enough recognition for those brave men and women who risk their lives for us.

Nevertheless, military people are not the only people on the battlefield. Christians are on the battlefield every day. A devout soldier of the Lord has the responsibility of pulling God‘s children back from the enemy lines. They do this by telling them the Good News of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who released us from the grips of the enemy. As a Christian, we make it known to the lost that “WE WIN” through believing and trusting that the battle is the Lords and we are instruments sharpened by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Christians are required to take this spiritual battle serious and understand that whether we want to or not, we must stay focused on the Commanding officers lead. He automatically knows every move and sees every thing the enemy is trying to do. He is the all-seeing, all knowing God Almighty!

Only through listening and believing in  Him will we have the ability to be steps ahead of the enemy. Our Commanding Officer gives us the ability to NOT get caught off guard. However, we must pay close attention to Him by building a strong line of communication with Him.  He even helps us when it is hard to venture into the unknown as to  accomplish our mission.

God teaches us how to be effective mighty warriors defending the lost and wounded souls of battle. Those who try to be heroes, not listening to the commanding officer will not gain a purple heart or great badge for bravery. The only badge they will receive is a badge of dishonor for refusing to obey.

As mighty warriors, we are invincible through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Live or die, we win! Carry on Soldiers of the Lord!
