Father God, indeed you are a good God! Thank you for another new day. Help us to make the most of this day by keeping our minds stayed on you. Your word tells us that you keep in perfect peace those whose minds are stayed on you. In the name of Jesus, we also ask for continued spiritual, mental, physical and financial healing for us, our families and loved ones. Thank you for your mercy and grace! Thank you for healing!
2 Chronicles 36:5-8 and vs. 15-16 (NIV) explains that “Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eleven years. He did evil in the eyes of the LORD his God and did not humble himself before Jeremiah the prophet, who spoke the word of the LORD. He also rebelled against King Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him take an oath in God’s name. He became stiff-necked and hardened his heart and would not turn to the LORD, the God of Israel. Furthermore, all the leaders of the priests and the people became more and more unfaithful, following all the detestable practices of the nations and defiling the temple of the LORD, which he had consecrated in Jerusalem.” The LORD, the God of their ancestors, sent word to them through his messengers again and again, because he had pity on his people and on his dwelling place. But they mocked God’s messengers, despised his words and scoffed at his prophets until the wrath of the LORD was aroused against his people and there was no remedy.
The Bible gives strong warnings to those who despise and ignore God’s instructions. Proverbs 28:9 says that “If anyone turns a deaf ear to my instruction, even their prayers are detestable.” Looking at this scripture, meditating on it, I cannot help but understand that the prayers of people who refuse to listen to the Lords instructions are despicable, disgraceful, shameful, appalling and even vile. These are strong words! People who are unfaithful to the word of God and follow the vile practices of the world, those who are stiff-necked and hardened in their hearts against the Lord, those who become uncomfortable, agitated or get a little angry or defensive and refuse to pay attention to anything having to do with God, the Bible, Jesus or Holy Spirit…these people must understand that their prayers will not be answered because they are despicable to the Lord according to Proverbs 28:9. Furthermore, once God’s wrath is aroused against those who despise His instructions…there will be NO REMEDY!
