Delighting in His Will

Psalm 37:4-6 (ESV) states: Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. Delighting in the Lord does not mean that if we act right, stop cursing, drinking, go to church, pray and do religious stuff God will give us new cars, new houses and new stuff. Delighting in the Lord means that we delight in His ways, His Word, His character, His holiness, His truth, His wisdom, His justice and we eagerly yearn to build a stronger relationship with Him through His son Jesus Christ by the power of His Holy Spirit. Delighting in God is obeying our calling by following God’s lead. You see, when we delight ourselves in the Lord our desires actually change and come into alignment with God’s desires. We desire that His will be done. Being in the will of God is being in alignment with His Word. 1 John 5:14 says: And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. Remember, God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven. If we come into alignment with God’s will in Heaven it will be done on earth!
