Chapter 1 verse 26 of the book of Genesis in the Bible tells us that God gave us dominion over all living creatures. Genesis 9:2 states that: All the animals of the earth, all the birds of the sky, all the small animals that scurry along the ground, and all the fish in the sea will look on you with fear and terror. I have placed them in your power.
The very moment Eve started listening to a serpent; this was proof that she did not understand the part about her and Adam having dominion over all the animals.
She took the word of the serpent as more valuable than that of God. Furthermore, Eve outright disobeyed because she thought that she was missing out on something. The enemy introduced fear of loss into Eve’s mind. Genesis 3:1 in the New Living Translation (NLT) tells us: The serpent was the shrewdest of all the wild animals the LORD God had made. One day he asked the woman, “Did God really say you must not eat the fruit from any of the trees in the garden?”
It is plain to see that he was aiming to confuse and manipulate.
The serpent or the enemy of God tried the same trick on Jesus in Luke 4:3 where it states: And the devil said unto him, if thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread. God had already told Jesus that He was His beloved Son, in whom He is well pleased. Jesus assured the enemy that He knew his identity and he did not have to do anything to prove it. Overall, the enemy tries to get us to act upon something.
Those who are spiritually weak are prime targets. They are the groper’s spoke of in Deuteronomy 28:29 where it states: You will grope around in broad daylight like a blind person groping in the darkness, but you will not find your way. You will be oppressed and robbed continually, and no one will come to save you. However, God did come to save us.
2 Corinthians 4:4 further confirms this blindness; it states:
In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
A Christian must know who he or she is in Christ. In Matthew 16:15 Jesus asked his disciples…But whom say ye that I am”? Then comes a most profound revelation contained in Matthew 16:16-19 stating: And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
God literally gave us supernatural abilities to loose the hands of the enemy and to bind him where he has no control. We have the power not to submit to sin and deception. Believers receive the keys to the kingdom of heaven and have power to change situations and the gates of hell shall not prevail over this power.
2 Corinthians 10:5 says we are now capable of …Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
God works in surrendered true believers. 2 Corinthians 13:5 tells us to:
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
It is God in you that is performing what you otherwise could not accomplish. Know your identity, you in Christ, your name is VICTORY!!!
